One More Thing

I don’t know what to think about trying to blog all alone. I love to guest blog and I’m part of the Authors of Main Street, but out here all by myself? Oh, no! Put on a brave face, smile and walk onto the empty stage because right now, it’s like walking into a big auditorium and saying welcome to an empty room.

So welcome everyone.

My wonderful dear friend, Joan Reeves, swears I need to do it. Maybe it’s cathartic?  Think of it as a big tweet a few times a week.  Why would anyone want to know about my life? Does anyone care?  I live a pretty boring one.

To say I border on recluse, would be wrong. Everyone who works at Starbucks knows me and I have a drinking buddy. She writes Christian literature under a pen name.  We get together for coffee several times a week and chat about our stories, plot, and plan.  She likes to go to bed with the chickens and I’m just getting going at that hour.  It’s not unusual for us to talk in the morning when  I’m getting ready to call it quits and she’s getting up.

I have a local writer’s group that I attend twice a month and we have a little thing we do on Thursdays nights at a small cafe to inspire people to write called Writers Write.  I usually only manage to write twenty-five words, but everyone else goes home happy.

But most of the time I’m here in front of my computer, pounding away on a story, revising, editing, or doing all the required things that an author must do.  My writing is serious to me.  I’ve never had writer’s block. The wheels keep turning even if they aren’t turning with what I want or need to write.

With electronic publishing, it’s faster than ever to take a finished book and get it to the readers hands. Unfortunately, readers seem to think we should be able to write a new book each month.  Let me start by telling you that I am the slowest typist you ever saw.  You could teach  a monkey to type faster than I do.  Even a novella takes me a few months from start to finish. So in-between putting out full-length books, I do try to slide out a novella. Otherwise you’d have a very long wait between books.

I have several projects going at the moment and I’ll try to keep everyone posted on what is happening.  This is a little longer than a big tweet so I’ll call it quits for today. I’ve got writing to do and I just made another pot of coffee to help me along. Maybe I’ll even figure out how to make this blog look pretty.
